COVID Cases Are Surging; We Are Ready With Teletherapy
The state had a nice stretch of low and plateaued Coronavirus cases, but unfortunately, as fall has progressed, we’ve seen a troubling uptick. As of this writing, Illinois has reported over six thousand new cases, and the Governor’s office implemented new restrictions on public gatherings and indoor dining in the north suburbs. The good/bad news is that this isn’t our first rodeo, and just like we were in early spring, we are fully equipped to offer teletherapy to current and new patients with no disruption to your treatment. Note that we are currently seeing patients at our clinic, along with the option of teletherapy.
What You Need for Teletherapy Sessions
We make it easy. Teletherapy can be conducted via video conferencing or phone call, and all you need is your personal computer or cell phone and an internet connection. Your therapist will provide a secure link to log on, and staff is always available to address any technical issues.
What You Can Expect from Teletherapy Treatment
As you can imagine, more people are seeking counseling in response to COVID concerns and fears. In fact, a Kaiser Family Foundation poll reported that half of Americans said the pandemic is harming their mental health, and that was back in spring.
Rest assured that treatment options are offered seamlessly via teletherapy:
- Psychotherapy
- Cognitive Rehabilitation
- Learning Specialist Services
You may be wondering what neurofeedback treatment looks like virtually. As we’ve previously written, teletherapy can allow patients to maintain neurofeedback treatment progress until in-clinic treatment is resumed. Patient needs vary, and teletherapy may consist of games or puzzles that support executive functioning skills or relaxation strategies and coping skills to manage anxiety. In some cases, we can even provide neurofeedback machines in your home setting.
Think of physical exercise as an analogy. If you were taking a multi-session fitness class at your health club but had to move your workouts at home due to COVID, you could still train and condition your muscles. Neurofeedback helps to “rewire” the brain through certain therapeutic exercises, and continuing to practice and work these regions with the tools you’ve learned at home will help you transition back to in-person neurofeedback treatment in the future.
HIPAA Compliance
Our teletherapy platform is fully HIPAA-compliant, complete with a private, direct connection with end-to-end encryption. That’s tech-speak for guaranteed privacy and security.
