Low Energy Neurofeedback (LENS)
Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS) Therapy is a specialized form of neurofeedback that helps restore brain wave balance. Approved by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA), LENS therapy is designed to alleviate many psychological symptoms and promote overall brain health.
LENS is a non-invasive treatment that uses low energy electromagnetic fields to stimulate brain wave activity. This therapy helps individuals who are stuck in patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that are both psychological and physiological. LENS makes the brain more flexible, allowing individuals to make new choices and form new habits.
How Does LENS Neurofeedback Therapy Work?
The term “low energy” in LENS neurofeedback refers to the minimal amount of electrical energy used during the therapy. In LENS, the energy delivered to the brain is not a strong or direct electrical current. Instead, LENS uses a very weak electromagnetic field or signal that is barely perceptible to the individual receiving the therapy.
The energy used in LENS is typically in the range of millionths of a watt, which is significantly lower than the energy levels associated with most electrical devices. This low-level energy is well below the threshold to cause any pain or discomfort. Patients do not physically feel the treatment, but their neurons respond to the subtle vibrations generated by the therapy.
The purpose of delivering this low-level energy is to gently stimulate the brain and provide feedback to help it self-regulate and optimize its functioning.
